Make wishes clear

Before you die you want to make sure your wishes are clear.  You want to talk to everyone in the family as a group and let them know what your wishes are, have these wishes put down on paper and make sure that everyone in the family knows that this is how it is going to be.

Keeping the family together

One of the hardest things to do at times is keeping the family together after the death of a loved one.  One of the reasons for this is that the person that died is typically the one that connects the family together.  This is typically the grandfather and grandmother.  When they were alive, they would typically insist that families get together for holidays and special occasions.  When they die however, this tradition will typically pass with them since most people live far away or separate lives.

Before you die, it is important that you appoint another head of the family.  This will be the person that you want to take your place and do what you would to keep the family traditions together.  This person would then need to step up and be the head of house.

If we are unable to accomplish this then the family will typically fracture and go their separate ways.  This is tragic and something that can easily be avoided.  However, in most families it is inevitable.  So, stand up, do what you can and don’t let the death of one be the death of all.
